Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life.

Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life.

I have bought this book after watching the presentation on youtube…and it is in my reading list. I hope it would be a great read.  By the way having Professor Jordan B. Peterson in this earth is a blessing upon humanity. I keep listening his lecture series and interviews or talks non-stop. He is a real man because he is not simply an YES man, he analyse thing deeper than expected. His subject knowledge over all humanities is great, from psychology to literature, critical theory to politics, biblical to post modernism. Really appreciate the light he shed upon humanities. But, doesn’t he somehow inclined toward Socialism and a bit atheistic in terms of faith. As far as I can say; he is well verse not only in Psychology, but to all other subject domains and literature too, which is the domain where I get to know him that he really master various literary genres and for sure he read widely, including Russian writings. He is well acquainted to the art of politics including feminism, he debunked feminist like Cathy Newman and Helen Lewis (link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZYQpge1W5s) by asserting the difference of male/female, and his assertion on gay/lesbian are quite the opposite of political correctness, which however seems having a strong point. He is well educated, independent and an outspoken person who exercise his knowledge and rights. He is a great man after all. …watching loads of his lectures or advice, there’ so many thing perspective.ideas, wisdoms to learn from him.

By the time I heard Prof. Jordan Peterson, I was in my masters’ who later become my online Lecturer and it is quite addictive to listen to his lectures. As a student of literature, I used to listen lectures through YouTube like Yale Courses, Stanford, Harvard, etc on my related subjects that we have in the curricula. I came across Prof. Jordan B Peterson on Modernism and Gender Studies since Cultural Studies is one of the subject domain where my interests are vested on. It is hard or even impossible to avoid Prof. J.B Peterson since he use to include various literary genres in literature. Apart from this, Literary Theory or LitCrit, such as Feminism, Psychoanalysis and social structures, humanism etc are more or less enough to take you to listen to the lectures given by our brilliant professor.

He also masters literature very well and, any interdisciplinary student or teacher would probably come across his lectures because he makes senses and enlightened our embedded thoughts in many ways. His stance on female/male are quite sharp as Ben Shapiro used to say ‘facts; not feelings’. Lastly, he makes humanities more and more interesting while many cherished their machine-learnings. Arts and Humanities matters and once again, having such a great thinker and philosopher is a bless upon humanity for throwing lights on various humanly-related issues. Also, lot of thanks to the today’s Western Thinkers and Philosophers (let me name a few: Ben Shapiro, J.B Peterson, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, etc) who have swayed the world for the knowledge.

  1. He is a good speaker, who influence youths like us, using academic approaches
  2. He is highly educated, not just in psychology, but for sure in literature as well.
  3. He has no political filter.
  4. He has no proclivity to political correctness
  5. He believes in gender’s specific roles, while culture is fluid.
  6. Some named him as neo-marxist/socialist.
  7. Sam Harris, Ben Shapiro, etc are his contemporaries.
  8. His advises are worth swallowing and following.
  9. He shared great ideas of the world from ancient thinkers/philosophers.
  10. Some of his subjects are religion, psychology, literature, identity, criticism, gender, ethics, biblical interpretation etc.
  11. He don’t use much humor (metaphor/dry metaphor); he is straight to the point in most of his speech.
  12. He write book which are sold over a million copies.

Finally, he speaks so well, that millions of people are eating it, and that makes him famous. Read and listen this man. He has more than 4.8 million of youtube subscribers and his biblical series were the most watched videos.

…..completed listening the whole “The Psychological Significance of Biblical Stories: Genesis”. (17 series.) The Lectures were juicy and precise….since he was pedantic and well versed……his psychological analysis on the Abrahamic Faith and gentry of Genesis were worth listening, such as:

• The Creation,

• The Idea of God,

• Self-Consciousness of Adam & Eve,

• The Manifestation of God to Abraham,

• The Hostile Brothers (of Cain & Abel),

• Noah and the Flood,

• Moses and Chaos,

• Jacob’s Ladder,

• Divine Phenomenology and the Babel Tower,

• Sodom & Gomorrah,

• The Great Sacrifice of Abraham,

• Joseph and the Coat/Joseph, the Dreamer.

• The Story of so and so in Genesis,

FYI:

The series were based largely on psychological approaches since JBP himself was a renown Clinical Psychologist.

There’s another book by JBP  !2 More Rules, Map of Meaning, and Beyond Orders.
